Congressional Republicans have yet to break the record for most retirements in a single year, but some say it’s only a matter of time before widespread frustration with the current state of Washington leads to a tipping point as many in the party head for the exits.

The most recent poll of the race shows a close election. The Pan Atlantic Research poll of 820 likely voters from November 29-December 7, 2025, showed Collins and Mills in a tie (43 percent each), while Platner led Collins by a single point (43 percent to 42 percent).
"They just do what the president insists that they do. That will be over. That ends as soon as we have the gavel," the former speaker said.
